Understanding the 2025 Immigration Quota A Pioneering Analysis
20 Dec 2024 vol 1016
HCDF Immigration has announced the 2025 Canadian immigration quotas for its clients. The total immigration target will be reduced from 500,000 to 400,000, with Quebec allocating 64% to economic immigrants, 22% to family reunification, and 14% to protection refugees. Based on this, it is expected that 256,000 economic immigrants, 88,000 family reunification immigrants, and 56,000 refugees will be accepted in 2025.
Of the economic immigrants, 1/8 will be business and investment immigrants, while 7/8 will be skilled workers, including international students and workers. The 88,000 family reunification spots include both spouses and parents. If the parent reunification quota is not opened, it will be carried over for future use.

Misconceptions About Study Permit
27 Nov 2024 vol 1015
In this issue, we will address common questions about Canadian study permits.
Question 1: Has it become harder to get a study permit?
Answer: Study permit are usually processed in six weeks. "Tightening" mainly targets students from Asia and South Asia. Students from Japan, Korea, China, and Hong Kong with proper financial documents and public schools will not face difficulties. If these conditions are not met, it will be harder.
Question 2: Is it harder for international students to get a work permit or work in Canada?
Answer: Incorrect. The Immigration Department recently announced international students can work 24 hours per week without a work permit, applicable to public schools. Private school students should be cautious. Postgraduate work permits remain unaffected, but spouses of undergraduate graduates cannot easily get a work permit, while spouses of graduate students can.
Question 3: Has the Canadian Immigration Department really tightened study permit and work permit applications?
Answer: Yes, mainly affecting certain regions and South Asian students. The Immigration Department revealed that 20% of student applications had problematic acceptance letters, which will be rejected. Honest applications with experienced consultants still have high success rates.

Projected Surge of Over 1 Million Refugees at U.S.-Mexico Border in 2025

From 2020 to 2024, under Democratic rule, over 10 million immigrants have illegally entered the U.S. Though numbers have recently declined, it is expected that more illegal immigrants will enter the U.S. before the new Republican president takes office in January 2025. Trump has announced plans to deport all illegal immigrants, and some may choose to enter Canada. If 10% of these illegal immigrants head north, Canada’s illegal immigrant numbers could exceed 1.2 million in the next year, which equals the country’s 30-year immigration quota, posing significant risks.
As the first to highlight this risk, HCDF Immigration, with 36 years of experience, urges the federal government to take timely action. We anticipate a large influx of refugees from the Mexico border, with the majority applying in Toronto and Vancouver. If you have family members planning to apply for work permits or immigration status, it is crucial to submit applications early to avoid potential delays. HCDF Immigration prioritizes clients, offering quick and efficient immigration solutions with no additional conditions.
